Forget dry winds and monotonous sands. The Fergana Valley is an oasis surrounded by the Tien Shan mountains, the lungs of Uzbekistan. Stop by Margilan to see the magic of ikat birth at the “Yodgorlik” factory — how an inconspicuous cocoon turns into “khan-atlas” that drives European fashion houses crazy. In Rishtan, be sure to sit at the potter’s wheel and feel the plasticity of clay, which after firing will become sky-blue ceramics. And, brother, gastronomy… Fergana plov on dark devzira rice is not just food, it is a religion. Having tasted it here, you will understand that what you ate before was just rice porridge.
